Roaster's Special Costa Rica

from $8.00

West Valley x Terrazú, Costa Rica

Tasting Notes: Peanut Butter - Berry Jam - Dark Chocolate - Pâte Sucrée

I roast it using my Light Roast recipe, but bring it up to a solid dark-medium (438 F), allowing the bold flavors of dark chocolate, peanut butter, and berry jam to fully develop and maintain their individual nuances. Black Rose Costa Rica serves you a very sophisticated PB&J chocolate tart in a cup!.

As Espresso: Outrageously smooth and aromatic. Nutty with dark chocolate and a hint of sweetness. A delightful, balanced and not bitter. Almost a milk chocolate mouthfeel but with dark chocolate taste. I almost always drink coffee black, but it's exciting to think about how well this will pair with whichever flavors you like to add!

Before I roasted a single coffee bean, I had the privilege of experiencing Costa Rican coffee first-hand. It was love at first sip. Then, before Black Rose had a name or an identity, I knew that I wanted to feature Costa Rican coffee. In the Dark Ages of a nascent Black Rose, you could find CR as a single-origin or as part of the original Black Rose Blend. It's now been a while, and I'm so happy to have Costa Rican back on the Black Rose Coffee menu!

Why did Costa Rica disappear from the Black Rose menu for so long? Climate Change and Covid devastated the local growing economy and deeply affected availability. I'm excited to have found this incredible lot to share with you!

Enjoy!
